Sub-Regional Committees

"Sub-Regional Committee" means all member Central Banks belonging to Sub-Regions (Article 1, Paragraph 2, Ident ix of the AACB Statutes).

Each sub-regional Committee shall consist of the Governors or Presidents and Heads of similar member Monetary Institutions in the sub-region. (Article 5, Paragraph 7 of the AACB Statutes)

Each Sub-regional Committee shall consist of the Governors or Presidents and Heads of similar member Monetary Institutions in the sub-region. Each Sub-regional Committee shall elect a Chairperson from among its members under such conditions as it may lay down.

About Us

The idea of an Association of African Central Banks was first introduced on May 25, 1963, at the Summit Conference of African Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In this regard, African Heads of State and Government unanimously agreed to set up a preparatory Economic Committee to study a large range of monetary and financial issues, in collaboration with Governments and in consultation with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
