Executive Secretary

"Secretariat" means the location of the administrative office of the Executive Secretary as determined by the Assembly of Governors. (Article 1 , Paragraph 2, Ident xi of the AACB Statutes )

The AACB Secretariat provides secretariat services ( Article 5, Paragraph 8 of the AACB Statutes ) for the meetings of the Association and performs any other duties the Assembly of Governors may assign to it.

Paragraph 8 of Article 5 of the AACB Statutes
The Secretariat shall provide the secretariat for the meetings of the Association and perform any other duties the Assembly of Governors may assign to it. The functions and organization of the Secretariat shall be specified in a separate document as approved by the Assembly of Governors.

Location of the Secretariat
The Secretariat of the Association shall be located at a place as may be determined by the Assembly of Governors. It may be changed by a consensus of the Assembly of Governors. (Article 1, Paragraph 3 of the Statutes).

As proposed by the Assembly of Governors at its 25th ordinary meeting held on August 16, 2001 in Johannesburg, South Africa, the AACB Secretariat is hosted by the Banque Centrale des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest  (BCEAO), in the premises of its headquarters in Dakar, Senegal.
