Information Session on climate risks for Africa’s financial sector - 12 May 2022
The African Financial Alliance on Climate Change (AFAC) in partnership with the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA) and United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is pleased to invite you to an information session on climate risks for Africa’s financial sector.
The session is organized to present the outcomes of a study by the African Development Bank, the Global Center for Adaptation (GCA), and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), with the support of McKinsey to identify how the African financial sector was managing climate risks in their operations and what regulatory requirements were in place for managing these risks. The session is an interactive engagement with industry stakeholder to get feedback and input on priority areas for the AFAC to support financial institutions in mainstreaming climate risk management in their operations. The study builds on the report on Climate risk regulation in Africa’s financial sector and related private sector initiatives (available here), which was during COP26 in Glasgow last year.
The session, hosted by Making Finance Work Africa, will provide an opportunity to discuss the insights from our work on climate risks for the financial sector.
