The Assembly of Governors of the Association of African Central Banks (AACB) held its 44^th ordinary meeting on August 5, 2022, at Sir Dawda Jawara International Conference Centre, in Banjul, The Gambia. Thirty-two (32) Central Banks and the African Union Commission (AUC) attended the meeting. In accordance with the programme of AACB Annual Meetings, the session of the Assembly of Governors was preceded by a Symposium held on August 4, 2022, on the topic "Digital Innovations and the Future of the Financial Sector: Opportunities and Challenges for Central Bank Digital Currencies”. The opening ceremony of the Symposium was honoured by His Excellency Mr. Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia.
